Backwardly Inclined Fans

Industrial backward inclined BI fan blower

SWSI, DWDI, AcF, PLR, BI, BC, AF, ST, Backward Inclined Fans, Aerocline, General Purpose, GP, BL, Limit Load, LL, Buffalo Vent Set, BCV, BCA, BCM, BCS fans: industrial backward inclined fan blowers supplied in welded heavy gauge steel construction to prevent flexing at high pressure. Available in direct drive ventialtor arrangements 4 / 4V/ 4H / 7 / 8 and belt drive fan arrangements 1 / 3 / 9 / 10. Arr. 10 blowers are known as ventilating sets (vent fan sets). Available in single width single inlet (SWSI), or double width double inlet (DWDI) fans. Capacities: to 500,000 CFM. Static pressure up to 100 inches water gauge depending on the class of construction. Typical fan class of construction is Class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Aluminum wheel, Steel wheel, or Alloy ventilator wheel: industrial backward inclined BI blowers and fans are supplied with aluminum wheel or corten wheel to meet requirements of AMCA A, and AMCA B spark resistant construction. Mild steel wheels are of all welded construction. If higher pressure is required wheel can be furnished of high strenght steel. Stainless steel ventialtor wheel in 304 SS, 316 SS, 316 SS, 2205 SS are supplied for corrosive applications, or high temeparature applications. The fan pressure curve remains stable to the right of the pick point.

Inlet flanges, outlet flanges, companion flanges: continuosly welded to match ANSI class 125/150, DIN, ISO, or custom hole pattern.

Shaft seal and low leakage ventilator construction: shafting is straightened to close tolerance to minimize "run-out" and ensure smooth operation. Teflon shaft seal, ceramic shaft seal and lubricated shaft seals (Buna, Teflon, Viton) are standard. Red silicone gasketing is provided for low leakage ventilator construction and for high temperature construction.

Heat fan construction up to 800 F: includes high temperature paint, shaft cooler, shaft-cooler guard, and steel wheel, or alloy fan wheel.

Cladding for sound attenuation and silencers: cladding consists of 2 inches mineral-wool insulation covered with a welded steel jacket. As an inexpensive alternative is offered slide-on acoustic cloth jackets. Inlet silencer/outlet silencer are supplied with matching flanges for further attenuation of the noise level.

Inlet filter assemblies: cell type, 1 inch, or 2 inch filters are available with filter cabinet to be mounted at fan inlet. Bird guard, insect screen and weather hood are optional accessories with inlet filter package.

Standard accessories: flash / raised access door, inspection port, drain and plug, unitary base, shaft and bearing guard, belt guard, motor cover, spring vibration isolation, rubber-in-share (RIS) vibration isolation, vibrating pads, outlet fan damper, inlet vane damper, external inlet vane damper, electrical / pneumatic actuators.

Controls and drives: variable frequency drives (VFD), across-the-line starters, RTDs, pressure sensors, flowmeters - complete control packages.

A reliable ventilation system that can operate during a fire is both vital and essential. It prevents smoke logging, allows people to escape quickly, minimizes damages to property and contents and enables firemen to attack the fire without hindrance. These power roof ventilators have the added advantage of providing normal day to day ventilation and in many cases can also be fitted with duct work for use in multi store buildings.

 Type Canada Blower HS
 Power Roof Ventilators

 have been tested to operate:

 -  continuously at 650 F

 - 3 Hours at 800 F

 - 1.5 Hours at 1000 F

 - 1/2 Hour at 1,200 F

Flow Volume up to 98,650 CFM
Static Pressure up to 5/8'' WG

The use of HS PRVs to vent heat and smokes has these specific advantages:

It is not dependent on air temperature differential or wind direction and velocity to create air movement.

It does not rely on heat itself to activate the system. Smoke detectors andwater-flow devices also may be utilized.

It provides for normal ventilation needs of the building as well as for emergency use as a vital component of the fire protection system.

There is usually a substantial cost saving in the purchase and installation of the dual purpose system.

Maintenance cost for building and equipment is frequently reduced.

The system can be effectively used in multi stories and below grade building areas.

Reliability of operations is assured because powered ventilators are in dailyuse and receive regular inspection and maintenance.

The unique Canada Blower Type HS power roof ventilators provide a solution for emergency heat and smoke venting that is dependable under the most extreme circumstances.
All critical components of Canada Blower HS PRV that exposed to the air-stream are ferrous  construc-tion to withstand high temperature conditions. These heavy gauge materials prevent warping of fan parts and malfunc-tion at high temperatures. This also insures years of trouble-free service in normal daily operation of the PRV fan. The wind shroud is made of galvanized steel; an exterior finish coat of epoxy can be specified. Painted parts are coated with epoxy to provide a protective coating rated excellent for hardness, impact resistance, adhesion and chemical resistance.

The concept of venting smoke and heat was first outlined by Industrial Risk Insurers (IRI). Use of powered ventilators could eliminate the problems experienced with gravity ventsSpecially designed roof mounted exhaust fans would mechanically vent heat and smoke under
emergency fire conditions.

Design of Heat & Smoke Fan
Belt and bearings are protected from the air stream by enclosing them in a ventilated tube. Design of HS fan incorporates a heat slinger / impeller. It isolates the fan bearings from damaging heat and draws cooler outside air through the motor compartment and over the belt and bearings. A spring load, fusible link activated device automatically opens dampers when temperature at the fan reaches 165 F. This enables the fan to function as a gravity ventilator prior to powered operation. for known future needs and/or balance systems with the minor corrections often needed for the unpredictable installed system variations.
A safety disconnect switch is mounted to the PRV housing. This feature protects maintenance personnel from an accidental fan start when the unit is being serviced.

This versatility and longer life without complexity, special tools or excessive cost are exclusive with CANADA BLOWER.

Experienced design, engineering, research and production know-how are complemented by extensive tooling in the construction of Heat & Smoke Roof Exhausters.
